About Us

Our mission is to help guide business-owning families and their professional advisors through the complexities of being both successful in business and successful families today and through the generations.

No matter what business you are in your goal is, being successful. Traditionally, we have relied on our lawyers and accountants for the advice needed to assure our businesses can grow and thrive. But with the business world constantly evolving, family business advising, a new supporting profession, has emerged to help facilitate successful business practices in closely-held and family-owned business.

Family businesses are unique in the way they operate because there are emotional ties that bind the business and family together. These ties must be dealt with carefully in order to strengthen the business and keep family ties healthy. Foresight Advisors can lend a helping hand. Our mission is to help guide family owned businesses and their professional advisors through the complexities of being both successful in business and successful as families today and through the generations.

Foresight Advisors has over 50 years of experience in family business advisement. Founder and President , Ed Rosenfeld, heads up our team of professional business advisors. He brings a wealth of knowledge to planning family business succession through training, education and his own personal experience. Ed best explains it himself as to why he felt the need to start a company that meets the under-served needs of family-owned and closely-held business.

“In the years I led our family owned business we had great lawyers, accountants and estate planners giving us some very good advice before and during the sale of our family business. Their estate planning was state-of-the-art. We had tremendously competent experts helping us as we developed over time. But I realized that there was an essential element missing from the mix. No one ever asked fundamental questions like, "What are your family's values and goals?", "What are your personal values and goals?” “Does your business have a strategic plan and how is it integrated with those values and goals?" In addition, none of our professionals represented the interests of our family and business as a whole; they either worked for an individual owner or the corporation.

None of our "Most Trusted Advisors" helped us sort out the difficult and often confusing contradictions of the multiple roles we played as father, son, brother, owner, executive or spouse in the complex interrelations of ownership and management of the business and our family relationships. As a son, owner and CEO, as hard as I tried and as much as I learned, I could not adequately fulfill the role of helping the family balance those conflicting roles since I was an active party within the family/business system.

I decided that when I had completed my tenure as CEO of our furniture rental and retail businesses, that I would become an independent advisor to other family businesses. Now I collaborate with teams of professionals to integrate solutions through first beginning with the fundamental questions the family needs to ask and then facilitating the thought and decision-making processes so that silent or overt conflict does not derail the process.” Foresight is here to help strengthen the bonds between family and business to make sure that the legacy of your hard work and success is continued from generation to generation.
