The Role of the Most Trusted Advisor (MTA) Program promotes a multi-disciplinary approach by reviewing the eight components of a transition plan that are needed to meet the objectives of all three areas of a family business: the ownership area, the management area and the family or personal area. Each of the four levels of the program take one day and are experiential in methodology and illustrate the issues facing a typical family business through a unique video case study.
MTA Level 1
An overview workshop that introduces the basic concepts and tools for guiding and advising your family business clients.
We focus on teaching you how to help your clients build a successfull business while creating opportunities for growth and change. We will explore the Positive Conflict Model and discover how conflict and the fear of it can be managed for the benefit of the entire family business system. You will learn to recognize differing perspectives, identify underlying issues and develop strategies to address these issues.
You will meet and assess a typical family business to identify the obstacles they face in transitioning the business. You will discover a variety of concepts and tools that will not only help clarify the future direction of both the family and the business, but also identify the obstacles that will present roadblocks along the way.
We recommend that your entire team participate in this awareness and education program to ensure that you have the required support systems in place.

MTA Level 2 Day 2
Further develop your knowledge and skills while acquiring additional tools to enhance your role. Based The Positive Conflict Model, this second course focuses on creating the many structures that are crucial to the smooth interaction between the business and the family , and vital to the eventual exit of the current leader.
Learn about ownership and management governance structures, how to apply dynamic strategic planning to promote the common interest, and review complex estate planning techniques that provide for ownership and control transition .
MTA Level 3
Focusing on the family circle, the third level continues the study of the Positive Conflict Model, and gives you an in-depth understanding of the structures that provide forums to clarify facts a vital component for the successful transition of the family business.
Learn how to work with these structures to address such issues as family relationships and dynamics, governance and control, stewardship, and communication and decision-making.
MTA Level 4
The fourth session in the series focuses on the design and implementation of a comprehensive program focused on finding sound strategies that meet the clients' needs and determine the structure and objectives of your family business advisory practice.
We will outline an approach to developing your process from the critical questions to ask in the area of business management, future ownership, and family participation to the mechanics of tracking and reporting. You will be fully certified as a Most Trusted Advisor, ready to tackle your clients transition planning needs from a position of strength in understanding and technique.
